A THOUGHT FROM TODAY’S READING…
Our reading in Ecclesiastes left me SO hungry for God’s wisdom in my life! Solomon’s writings put him among  the wisest men to have ever lived. His writings also show us these very solemn truths that may not always be encouraging or comforting - but if you rest with them long enough, your heart knows they are true. One of my favorite truths Solomon speaks on is found in Ecclesiastes 8:16, where he basically says that no matter how hard we try, we cannot know everything there is to know. This is followed by the reality that we are given the situation in life that we find ourselves (he even speaks of this like it is a gift to receive) and encourages us to enjoy our lives, work hard, and to love those around us well. What a message!

Now, how do we respond? Take a moment and think of a few different aspects of your life (Home, Work, Gym, etc.) Do you find yourself enjoying yourself there? Working hard? Loving others well? No? Spend some time with Jesus and ask Him what He is calling you to enjoy as a gift more deeply this season. Be encouraged! - Matteo McGill

A THOUGHT FROM TODAY’S READING…
Have you ever looked at someone’s life and all of the possessions they have? You look at their big house and fancy cars, thinking “Boy, they have it all!” You imagine that they must be really happy; that all those things will bring them great joy. You think to yourself what great blessings they have been granted. Then you look at what you have in comparison: your little house, your old car, your thrift store shirt, and feel less than satisfied with your life. You feel that somehow it’s not fair that you work just as hard but have so little. Or you look around and say to yourself, “Why do I have so much stuff? What am I going to do with all of this stuff?” All these possessions eventually come to possess us. I have found that these “things” are not what has given me joy, or peace, but quite the opposite - they have caused me stress. Yes, in the moment, they made me happy… but it was not lasting. Joy comes from the real blessings that the Lord grants.

In Ecclesiastes, King Solomon describes man’s vain attempt at controlling his future and all his possessions. Solomon states, “All the toil of man is for his mouth, yet his appetite is not satisfied.” (Ecclesiastes 6:7) He is telling us that we work hard to get a lot of stuff, but we are never satisfied with what we have. We always want more. For you see, things of this world are not the things that will truly satisfy us. Finding joy does not come from an increase in possessions. It is a gift granted to us by the Lord. So you may ask, “How do we get God’s blessing of joy?” Well, start by simply being thankful for all that we have, for He has provided all we have. Remember that, even in tough times, the Lord is in control and has a plan for us. Stay faithful and grateful.

Solomon tells us, “In the day of prosperity be joyful, and in the day of adversity consider; God has made the one as well as the other, so that man may not find out anything that will be after him.” (Ecclesiastes 7:14) Life is full of unexpected ups and downs. And yet, God is in control. Even in the hardest times, He is still a loving God, and we can be grateful.

A THOUGHT FROM TODAY’S READING…
Circumstances can feel big — but God is bigger. In Psalm 74:10–17, Asaph brings a heartfelt lament to God over the devastation caused by enemies who mock God and destroy His sanctuary. He pleads with the Lord to remember His covenant and act on behalf of His people. The enemies are openly defying God (v.10), and Asaph wonders why God seems to hold back His hand (v.11). God appears silent, and the people see no signs of His intervention (v.9). It’s a moment of deep confusion and grief — one many of us can relate to.

But Asaph doesn’t stop there. Even in the silence, he turns his eyes to what he does know: God’s character. He remembers that God is his King from of old, working salvation in the earth (v.12). He recalls the mighty acts of deliverance — how God split the sea, crushed great sea creatures (symbolic of chaos and evil), brought forth water, and set boundaries for day and night. These poetic images remind him — and us — that God is sovereign over creation, history, and even the chaos.

So what does this mean for us? Just like Asaph, we may face moments where God feels silent. Our enemies may mock. Our prayers may feel unanswered. Our feelings are real but they aren’t reality. God has not abandoned us. He invites us, even in silence, to shift our gaze from our circumstances to Him — our salvation, Yeshua. So take heart. Reflect on what God has done in your life and in His Word. Let that shape your appeal and your hope. He is still sovereign. He is still present. And He is far greater than anything you’re facing. A THOUGHT FROM TODAY’S READING…
The church of your childhood, gone. The pastor you really understood and connected with, gone. That podcast you listened to daily and really appreciated, gone. That small group with such great conversation and fun, gone. Hats or no hats? Jeans and shorts vs suits and dresses? Dress shoes or gym shoes? The world spins, the sun sets and rises again, storms come and go. Destruction one season and provision and bounty the next. War and turmoil and then peace with laughter. It’s the same over and over again. There is a time and season for all things.

But what remains the same? What can we count on? Who is always there throughout it all? Our Holy God!! The Father, Son, and Spirit remain constant and never changing. This is our foundation and never changing truth and security. (Hebrews 13:8) Friends, I too have experienced sorrow and despair. I am never lacking in questions about life and circumstances. There’s always at least one for me. But finding the answers doesn’t bring me lasting joy and peace. This only comes with Jesus and the Spirit inspired Word of God. His mercy is new every morning and with that comes peace and joy. Praise Him with me today as we find rest in this truth!
And all God’s people said, “Amen!”

A THOUGHT FROM TODAY’S READING…
I’ve scrolled through social media, seen someone else's wins, and felt that quiet ache of envy. “Why do they have it so easy while I’m struggling just to keep going?” That’s the tension Psalm 73 names so honestly. The writer admits, “I envied the arrogant… they have no struggles… always free of burdens…” (vv. 3–5). It’s the age-old trap of comparison—believing that comfort equals favor and struggle equals failure. But then in verse 17, everything shifts: “until I entered the sanctuary of God.” Being near to God didn’t erase the struggle—it reframed it. He realized that chasing what looks good on the outside can leave you empty on the inside.

Paul echoes this in 2 Corinthians 11. Instead of bragging about blessings, he lays out a résumé of suffering—beatings, shipwrecks, hunger, sleepless nights—not as a pity party, but as proof of his faithfulness. His life shows us that following Jesus isn’t about escaping hardship; it’s about embracing purpose. And Psalm 73 gives us the response: “Whom have I in heaven but you? Earth has nothing I desire besides you” (v. 25). Feeling worn down or left out today? Get alone with God. Write down the “but I have God” moments in your life—the ones that remind you you’re held, seen, and sustained. Let that perspective reset your soul. Jesus is better. Always. Once you remember that, you’ll be able to trade performance for presence. Instead of curating your life for approval, show up for someone who needs real love—not filters, not hype, just the kind of grace that quietly stays. The world may look for shooting stars, but God’s loving, faithful presence is more like the moon... it may not be as spectacular or celebrated, but it’s the brightest of them all. Reflect His love today.- Dave Kubiak

A THOUGHT FROM TODAY’S READING…
Don't miss His goodness! In Galatians 6:9, the church is encouraged to not be weary in well-doing. Which seems simple enough. But this becomes difficult when we look at people who do not know or love God nor others - people who only live for themselves - that appear to continually flourish. I'll be honest - when I'm really not focusing on God, it seems that people who live recklessly get the opportunity to grow old, while others who lived for Christ and for the benefit of their neighbor are cut short. Now, there's no question that this is a distorted view of reality. Yet jealousy and a lack of contentment makes it hard to see how good God truly is to His children, and how he adjudicates the wicked. Asaph is the writer of Psalm 73, and thankfully he had the self-awareness to realize that, as he looked at the prosperity of a world full of corrupt and wicked people, that he was slipping into jealousy and discontentment. In his own words, "But as for me, I almost lost my footing.     My feet were slipping, and I was almost gone. For I envied the proud when I saw them prosper despite their wickedness.” (Psalm 73:2-3)

Jealousy has the ability to project a perverted view of the success of the ungodly, which ultimately leads us to question whether or not God is truly just. In Proverbs 11:21, it says "Be assured, an evil person will not go unpunished, but the offspring of the righteous will be delivered". Even though it appears that those who practice sin and gain wealth and power are getting away with it, the Bible reassures us that the ungodly will face a just and righteous God and the accomplishments, money, and success that they have here on earth is temporary and fading. Yet the gift of God is eternal life. Our treasures are laid up for us in heaven, and our reward is eternal. Let us continue to follow Christ - for He is good and He is true. As we grow in Christ, let us not allow the enemy to take our attention away from God's goodness, which is already present in our lives, in exchange for jealousy of the temporary pleasures lived out by those who don't know him. - Jewaun Glenn

A THOUGHT FROM TODAY’S READING…
When our family served full-time in missions, we depended entirely on God’s provision. All the stories I had once only read about—those miraculous, last-minute answers to prayer—became our daily reality. We weren’t just reading about God’s faithfulness anymore; we were living it.

In 2nd Corinthians 8:22 - 9:9, Paul reminds the early church about the importance of generous giving, not out of obligation, but as a joyful response to God's grace. This passage isn’t only for missionaries or those in full-time ministry. It’s for all of us who call ourselves children of God. Giving generously and cheerfully is one of the clearest ways we mirror Christ’s love and reflect our trust in His provision. If we truly believe that everything we have comes from God, and that He is good and sovereign, then our response should naturally be one of open-handed generosity. We give not just to meet needs, but to testify to the grace we’ve received.

As we let this passage from 2nd Corinthians settle in our hearts today, let’s ask ourselves a few simple but powerful questions:

·   What do I have that I can be generous with?
·   Is there something I have in excess—time, encouragement, resources, even a listening ear—that someone else might need?
·   Who might God be putting on my heart today?
·   What is He inviting me to give, and where or when might He want me to do it?

Take a moment to ask God specifically: “Lord, how can I reflect Your generosity today?” And then, when He answers, choose to obey. It might be small. It might feel inconvenient. But it could be the beginning of someone else’s answered prayer. We get to be part of God’s bigger story—not only as recipients of His grace and provision but also as messengers of it. Just like we’ve experienced His timely generosity, we now get to create stories of faithfulness and provision for others. Let’s live lives that others can point to and say, “That was God’s kindness at just the right time.” - Angie Armstrong

A THOUGHT FROM TODAY’S READING…
Give the king your justice, O God, and your righteousness to the royal son! May he judge your people with righteousness, and your poor with justice! — Psalm 72:1-2
God sees the poor in their affliction. I would never call myself poor—I've traveled the world and seen those hopelessly trapped in poverty. I've had tough times, American-poor or privileged-poor, but real poverty spans generations with no way out. I remember walking through Bangalore's slums, stepping into an 8' x 12' room where 30 family members somehow made life work. What I remember most wasn't the poverty—it was Suresh's wife, praying daily for her family, and Suresh himself, resistant to God, wouldn't go to church, looked away when we talked about faith. But God had other plans and I saw God's Spirit transform him in an instant—his face literally changing. In that cramped room, I witnessed something that still unsettles me: people who possessed a depth of faith, a readiness for God that my comfort has never required. Not because poverty was a blessing—it's brutal. But circumstances that strip away everything nonessential reveal what actually matters.

Psalm 72 reveals God's heart. The psalmist prays for divine justice through earthly leadership. The first request isn't for military might or prosperity—it's for God's own justice as leadership's foundation. Immediately, focus turns to the poor: "May he judge your people with righteousness, and your poor with justice!" This is righteous leadership's test. "May he defend the cause of the poor of the people, give deliverance to the children of the needy, and crush the oppressor!" (verse 4). "Defend" here means pleading a case like a lawyer. God's king argues their case before heaven and earth. "May he be like rain that falls on the mown grass, like showers that water the earth!" (verse 6). Rain on mown fields brings restoration after devastation. The poor aren't just surviving—they're being restored. God's law contains structure and provision for the poor. He has dominion, recognizes their need for justice, and promises to oppose the oppressor. This is exactly what Psalm 72 declares. God's justice reaches into 8' x 12' rooms where resistant husbands live with praying wives. Suresh received that justice, that divine intervention, where the world had written him off. "In his days may the righteous flourish, and peace abound, till the moon be no more!" (verse 7). This flourishing happened in a slum that didn't become prosperous, in circumstances that didn't change. But God saw Suresh there. God reached him there. God changed him there. "May he have dominion from sea to sea, and from the River to the ends of the earth!" (verse 8). Every slum, every forgotten corner falls under His dominion.

We are all poor before this King who sees the poor in their affliction. Suresh didn't know it—that's why he wasn't going to church. But God saw him anyway. His wife knew it—that's why she prayed faithfully. I learned it watching God's justice play out exactly where Psalm 72 says it will: among the poor, in forgotten places, under dominion that extends to the ends of the earth. Whatever your circumstances today, remember this: the King who defends the poor sees you. His justice isn't reserved for palaces—it reaches into every forgotten corner, every difficult situation, every place where you feel overlooked. The same God who transformed Suresh in that cramped room promises to be "like rain that falls on the mown grass, like showers that water the earth!" Your restoration may not look like changed circumstances, but it will look like His presence reaching you exactly where you are.

A THOUGHT FROM TODAY’S READING…
"Even when I am old and gray, do not forsake me, my God, till I declare your power to the next generation, your mighty acts to all who are to come." - Psalm 71:18
We were never meant to do life alone. From the beginning, God designed us for community—to walk together, be led by His Spirit, and carry forward His Kingdom values to future generations. Scripture is our foundation. Proverbs 26, filled with Solomon’s wisdom, acts as a spiritual “Do’s and Dont’s” list for God’s people. These aren’t just ancient truths—they’re practical principles we’re meant to live and share.

As I’ve grown older, I’ve realized that foolishness can be passed down just as easily as wisdom. That’s why spiritual discernment is so important. On our own, we might misinterpret God’s truth. But God, in His grace, gave us the Holy Spirit—our guide and teacher. And He gave us each other. In love, we are called to shepherd and support one another. Studying Scripture isn’t just about knowledge—it’s about transformation. Every time I revisit God's Word, I discover something fresh and life-giving.

“Do not answer a fool according to his folly, or you yourself will be just like him.” Proverbs 26:4
It’s a clear call to choose wisdom in our responses and avoid being pulled into foolishness. In 2 Corinthians 7:13b–8:9, Paul urges the church to repent and return to God. We all feel the weight of the world and sin sometimes, but when we share the joy of repentance, it becomes contagious. Encouragement spreads. Titus, worn down by his efforts to reconcile Paul and the church, found renewal through his community. We need that same refreshment today. Even in weakness, God uses us. As we age, our calling doesn’t fade. Psalm 71:18 reminds us that we are to proclaim God's power to the next generation. This is our legacy.

Prayer: Lord, thank You for the wisdom of Your Word and the gift of community. Help me walk in discernment, guided by Your Spirit. Use my life to pass on truth, love, and faith to the next generation. Teach me to encourage others and remain teachable myself. In Jesus’ name, amen. - Marci Burk

A THOUGHT FROM TODAY’S READING…
One of the best (and most frustrating) gifts I’ve ever received is honest feedback—especially when it comes from someone you love, respect, and trust. I recall a time when my Pastor, Jordan Ogden, called me out on a careless text message. I’ve given my wife, Gwyn, plenty of opportunities to provide it as well. Whether it was by a coach in sports, in my leadership, or in marriage, I’ve learned that correction stings... but it also saves. A coach sees what you can’t see. And if you trust their voice, their correction can become your breakthrough.

In 2 Corinthians 7, Paul celebrates how godly sorrow led the church to real repentance. I’m talking about the kind that leads to deep change, not shallow regret. But it wasn’t shame that moved them, it was love and conviction. Proverbs reminds us that a wise person doesn't just hear correction—they receive it. Growth begins where defensiveness ends. Want to put this into practice today? Ask someone you trust spiritually, “What’s one blind spot I might not be seeing?” Then, don’t defend. Just listen. Let that correction lead you to realignment—not out of guilt, but out of your desire to become more like Jesus. Repentance isn’t weakness. It’s a reset. And it always leads to freedom. - Dave Kubiak

A THOUGHT FROM TODAY’S READING…
What do you see when you look in the mirror? Are you critical of what you see? I am. I often wonder how I got to be this way or look this way. But here’s some good news. In 2 Corinthians 5:16, we are told not to regard ourselves as the world does. PHEW! That is a relief! We are also told not to regard Jesus as the world regards Him. 2 Corinthians 5:16-21 tells us that we are to be reconciled to God. Reconciled, in a relationship, not only means to be forgiven, but to restore a friendly relationship with. If you are married and have struggled in your marriage, you know how good it is to reconcile with your spouse. Or maybe you and your child have a difficult relationship. That moment when reconciliation happens, you can hear the angels sing! From before the world was created, God developed a plan to be reconciled to us. He knew we would mess up. But He loved us so much, He desired a relationship with us!

So, Jesus took it upon Himself to reconcile us to the Father. When I read these passages about how Christ reconciled us to the Father, I am overwhelmed and just want to melt into the loving arms of God. Who am I that God would do this for me? For you? Yet, He did. He has also committed us to the message of forgiveness. We are ambassadors of reconciliation, of the great love of God. Ambassadors who spread the word that now is the time of favor and salvation, to be restored in relationship with God. Now is the time to be reconciled to God, to let Him embrace you, forgive you, and love you. Now is the time to share that powerful message of forgiveness and love. You are definitely loved. You are definitely forgiven. - Mary Spix

A THOUGHT FROM TODAY’S READING…
The words from Corinthians 5:6 have been buzzing in my mind this week:
“...We know that while we are at home in the body we are away from the Lord”
I spend more time in my world thinking about me and how life is working than I do thinking about my standing with the Lord - life has simply ingrained this way of thinking into my brain. As much as I try, I struggle changing my thinking. The Keryx prison ministry I serve in taught me some important lessons this year. I was asked to be rector for the weekend and part of my task was to build a team of men to serve with me. I thought I did a pretty good job putting the team together, but God showed up to remind me that I was just collecting people he wanted on the team. There were situations that occurred during the weekend that I could not have scripted and organized if I tried.

We all catch ourselves working out of our earthly perspective or motivation rather than working hand in hand with the Lord at some point. It’s hard to change the way we think and operate, but Jesus is there to help us and reward us when we do. We need to aim to please the Lord as we all will eventually appear before the judgement seat of Christ. I would rather go before the judgement seat having walked the path set by the Lord rather than the path I tried to create for myself. How about you? God Loves You and So Do I

A THOUGHT FROM TODAY’S READING…
Paul described our fragility in today’s passage, which doesn’t always feel good or like something that is desired. But the treasure we have in spite of our fragility is a powerful God who holds all things together and works in and through us despite our weaknesses. This powerful truth shows us that, despite all the hardships of life, we won’t be overcome or taken out by them. There’s a larger, eternal perspective held by God who stands and reigns outside of time and space. There’s a future glory that our minds can’t fully comprehend, but will make our seemingly large challenges of today small and trivial. I’m challenged to ask Him how He wants me to ‘see’ the things around me with a gaze that keeps eternity in mind. - Jessica Glenn

A THOUGHT FROM TODAY’S READING…
David finds himself desperate for God’s help in Psalm 69. Known as a man after God’s own heart, David has enemies that have brought him to a place of despair and hurt. He is being mistreated, falsely accused, and hated on. In verse 20 of the New Century Version, he says’”Insults have broken my heart and left me weak”. Yet in his desperation, he knows he doesn’t have to fight this battle on his own. He knows he can cry out to God to rescue him. In verse 13 he says, “Because of your great love, answer me, you are truly able to save.” In verse 16 he says, “Lord answer me because your love is so good. Because of your great kindness, turn to me.” David is begging God for help. He wants comfort from the tactics of his enemies.

Enemies. We all have them, but it’s what we do with them that matters. Like David, we too can find help and comfort in knowing we can trust God to take care of our enemies. In Proverbs 20:22 it says, “Don’t say, ‘I’ll pay you back for the wrong you did.’ Wait for the Lord, and he will make things right.”

In my own experience, I have found that battling my enemies is just too great a burden to bear on my own. When I choose to surrender my right to handle my enemies over to God, I trade despair for comfort. I can trust Him to make things right in His time and in His way because of His great love and kindness towards me.

What greater way to let his light shine out of the darkness when we let him make things right? - Crissy Lopp

A THOUGHT FROM TODAY’S READING…
You ever notice how certain smells stick with you? When I was a kid, my dad would come home from the shop smelling like grease and hard work. These days, I carry the smoky aroma of Sunday night cigars with the guys or the scent of fresh-cut grass on a spring afternoon. My kids come in from playing and I swear I can smell “outside” in their hair. The truth is, we carry the fragrance of where we’ve been. And Paul says in 2 Corinthians that we carry the aroma of Christ—meaning people can smell where we’ve been spiritually too. When we’ve been with Jesus, it lingers. It shows up in our peace, our patience, our kindness—especially in hard moments.

Maybe you’ve been in the stinky “deep mire” of life, like Psalm 69 says. If that’s where you’re coming from, Jesus is near, waiting to meet you in it. You don’t need to try to clean up or get rid of the “stench.” Cry out to Him from the depths - even praise Him in it! It’s a fragrant aroma of worship. So here’s a challenge—spend some extended time with Jesus today. Let His grace rub off on you. Then go bring that aroma into your world. Maybe it’s in how you respond to stress, or how you speak life to someone who needs it. Let the scent of Heaven linger where you walk with Proverbs 19 wisdom. - Dave Kubiak

Instead of having a “thought” provided, today the thought is yours! We’d love to encourage you to revisit today’s scripture and engage deeply with the questions above. Take time to reflect and let God’s Word speak to you personally.

Identify a Focus verse, phrase, or word. This should be one that presents a truth with special relevance or significance to you. Write it out word for word. Then, write your Feelings or insight: your own explanation of how you see the truth of your Focus relating or speaking to your life. Finally, identify an Invitation from God. If you believe the truth of your insight, what specific action will you take?

Let God guide you through this process, and see how His Word transforms your perspective!

A THOUGHT FROM TODAY’S READING…
Something that strikes me today in our 2 Corinthians reading (and anytime I read Paul) is his wording. He always speaks with such grace, truth, and humility! Today, I’m reminded of God’s faithfulness through this passage and our reading in Psalms. In 2 Corinthians 1:18, Paul is saying that his faithfulness is a result of God’s faithfulness. He also says that we never have to question the promises of God, for in Him promises are always “yes and amen!” Going to Psalm 68 - this whole chapter is praising God for His majestic power. God is a God of retribution & redemption. He will justify His people and punish those who do wrong. This is a reminder that even in our most troublesome days, “Our God is a God of salvation, and escape from death belongs to the Lord my (our) Lord!” As we go into our day, let’s meditate on that fact - we serve a FAITHFUL FATHER! - Matteo McGill
