Today’s reading is from Luke 1:39-80
THINK. A Thought from Pastor Mike…
Jesus’s life here on earth is the most significant happening in all of human history. God himself choose to be born as one of us, live among us, teach us, and then die for us. The coming of Jesus, the Messiah, was foretold by many prophets over hundreds of years and was looked forward to by all Jewish people. But when Jesus actually came, God took extra steps to be sure those closest to him would have no doubt about who he was or why he came. God send Gabriel, his chief messenger to Mary and Joseph. Angels also heralded Jesus arrival to shepherds so they could begin spreading the news and also reassure Mary and Joseph. And if that wasn’t enough, God also helped Mary’s relatives Elizabeth and Zechariah to conceive a child in their old age who would grow to pave the way for Jesus. God used simple, obedient people to accomplish his most important mission. How might he use us if we say yes when he calls on us?
