THINK. A Thought from Pastor Dave…
Throughout Scripture, we find the theme of rest woven into the story of God and His people. God continues to provide the time, space, and rhythm for His children to seek and find rest in His presence. God modeled rest in creation. God called the people of Israel to observe specific holy days, festivals, and feasts - to set apart times and seasons to remember God’s faithfulness and rest in the work that He had already accomplished on their behalf. God’s rest even extended to the land - instructing His people let the ground rest every seven years and every fiftieth year, trusting God’s provision in this “Sabbath” year. Throughout all this, God was creating, calling, and commanding a people who would be at rest in His presence. And yet, we miss the heart of the matter. People rebel. We wander. We even turn God’s invitation to rest into work. How much more difficult do we make our life, how long and how far do we wander, what healing and fruit do we miss out on because we miss God’s heart for His people? Don’t miss the heart of rest today. For Jesus, it wasn’t about what you could or couldn’t do. It was about reorienting your heart toward God and finding healing and home in His presence. God’s heart is for yours.
