THINK. A Thought from Pastor Dave…
There are three incredibly important and timely words in today’s reading. Pay attention, point out, and practice. What we pay attention to matters. The things we read on social media, the news we watch, the music we listen to, the teachings/podcasts of celebrities, leaders, and even pastors influence us. Are you paying attention? It can be hard to pay attention by ourselves, though. Like a goldfish doesn’t know what water is, we need others who can point out things we might not see or be aware of. Specifically, the “pointless and silly myths” that bring division, deceit, and the demonic and lead us away from Jesus and His church. Not only do we need to pay attention to the “teaching” in our life and have trusted Christian friends point out what isn’t Jesus, we ultimately need to practice our faith. Put the things you’re hearing, reading, and learning into practice. Ask yourself, “If this is true, what will I do?”
LIVE. One practical way to understand and apply the Bible is the SOS method. Ask…
S: What does this passage say about God, and what does it say about me?
O: What am I being invited to obey?
S: What can I share with those around me?
PRAY. Pray for yourself, a family member, a lifegroup/church friend, someone who doesn’t know Jesus, and the nations. Pick one each day or pray through them all every day.
