THINK. A Thought from Pastor Dave…
What’s the point? Ever been in an argument with someone and said that? It’s important to remember. When we’re talking about “teaching,” it’s easy to end up distracted by empty disputes and arguments. And while it’s not that sound teaching and “being right” is UNimportant… it’s just that we can get it right and still get it wrong. We can make a point and still miss the point. The point of teaching is that it would infiltrate our our life. That it would be “worked out.” Applied. When it comes to teaching others, the point isn’t simply to “be right” - the point is repentance. No one wants to join the side of a jerk. Don’t just try to change minds, God is after changed hearts that lead to changed lives. Flee from the useless arguments that fill your newsfeed and lead to ruin. Teach with your life by living in such a way that leads others to repentance. It’s in knowing God that we’ll know the truth.
LIVE. One practical way to understand and apply the Bible is the SOS method. Ask…
S: What does this passage say about God, and what does it say about me?
O: What am I being invited to obey?
S: What can I share with those around me?
PRAY. Pray for yourself, a family member, a lifegroup/church friend, someone who doesn’t know Jesus, and the nations. Pick one each day or pray through them all every day.
