Good Morning!
Let’s focus our day by spending some time with Jesus before it begins.
Pick a song from one of our Spotify Playlists & let it play in the background.
FOCUS. Breathe in & out slowly. Pray, Jesus, you gave yourself for me. I give myself to you.
THANK. Write down or say out loud 3-5 things you’re thankful for from the last 24 hours.
WORSHIP. Read Isaiah 53:2-3. Focus on one truth about who God is & thank Him for it.
PRAY.
Pray the Lord’s Prayer, a Ripple Prayer, or find more at paradoxchurch.com/pray.
READ.
Today’s reading is from Mark 15 & Psalm 38:20-22
ASK. After reading, ask the following SOS Questions & journal your thoughts.
S = Say. What is the main point? What does it teach about God (Jesus) & yourself?
O = Obey. What can you apply (practice) from this passage today?
S = Share. Who can you share what you’re learning with today?
THINK. A Thought from Renee Richter
Mark has a way of packing as much information as possible into a small space; he mastered the bullet point description before there was even a bullet point in a text. There are so many valuable lessons and characters in this chapter worth pondering. I had to go back to the focus for these readings - Jesus. He is both man and God, a concept difficult to comprehend and with which faith is needed to believe. There could be discussions about how long Jesus knew how and when His earthly death would occur, but in Mark, it’s first mentioned in chapter 8 and is approximately two years in His ministry. Personally, I believe He knew of His death before He said it to the disciples. The length of time He knew of it doesn’t matter. What does matter is our God chose to become man to walk among us again. He chose to live as a human and to identify with us. He chose to die, shedding all His blood in payment for all the sins of each person born before and after His death. In this account of Jesus’s presentation to Pilate, His crucifixion, and death, Jesus utters very few words. He doesn’t defend Himself or plead with the people He came to free from the penalty of sin.
He did as the Father commanded.
He knows the plan.
He will continue to be obedient to the Father.
He will trust the Father and the Spirit to complete the work He participated in on Earth.Jesus embodied love, obedience, and trust. Precious Lord, help me to follow this example.
