THINK. A Thought from Pastor Dave…
Fair warning. Whether you’re traveling or trying something new, there are things that will take you out. Keep you from where you want to go, doing what you wanted to do, and being who you want to be. It’s wise to listen to those who have gone before us, been there, done that. We all want to be able to say with Paul, “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. So we can’t get taken out. In his closing words, Paul gives Timothy a few specific things to do to not get taken out, and fulfill what God called him to do. Have self-control. Endure hardship. Tell others about Jesus. Is there one of these that is threatening to take you out, hold you back, and keep you from fulfilling what God has given you to do? Pray that God would stand with you and strengthen you. He did it for Paul. He’ll do it for you. So that the Word might fully be preached, and everyone might hear it.
LIVE. One practical way to understand and apply the Bible is the SOS method. Ask…
S: What does this passage say about God, and what does it say about me?
O: What am I being invited to obey?
S: What can I share with those around me?
PRAY. Pray for yourself, a family member, a lifegroup/church friend, someone who doesn’t know Jesus, and the nations. Pick one each day or pray through them all every day.
