Good Morning!
Let’s focus our day by spending some time with Jesus before it begins.
THANK. Write down 3-5 things you’re thankful for in the last 24 hours.
WORSHIP. Pick a song from one of our Spotify Playlists and let it play in the background.
READ. Our Scripture Focus is Ephesians 2:8-9. Try memorizing it during this study!
Today’s reading is from Psalm 51 (Go Deeper: Joel 2:12-13, Mark 1:14-15, Romans 5:1-2 & Romans 10:9-10)
THINK. A Thought from Pastor Dave…
Jesus calls us to receive the gifts of grace, forgiveness, and salvation through repentance and faith. But what does that mean? Repentance is a turning away, or changing of your mind. In order to repent, we must first become aware of our sin. Psalm 51:3-4 says that repentance means becoming “conscious” of our sin, and that our sin is “always before us.” (What we do with it is important here - guilt, shame, and condemnation are not from Him. Repentance means running to God when we become aware of our sin, not running further away.) Second, we recognize that our sin is against God. Often, people will say things are ok as long as no one gets hurt. But all sin breaks the heart of God and ultimately affects our relationship with Him. Finally, we agree with God that God’s ways are good and right, that we are in the wrong, and that we are responsible for our actions and their consequences. That takes humility - but only then can we receive the gifts that faith (assurance and certainty of things not seen or felt) offer. The Psalm goes on to ask God to give a clean conscience, restore God’s presence, bring joy, and give us a testimony we can share with others in God’s power and authority, because we’ve seen and experienced freedom and healing in our own life first. Spend some time repenting today, and receive the gifts of faith God has for you.
LIVE. One practical way to understand and apply the Bible is the SOS method. Ask…
S: What does this passage say about God, and what does it say about me?
O: What am I being invited to obey?
S: What can I share with those around me?
PRAY. Pray for yourself, a family member, a lifegroup/church friend, someone who doesn’t know Jesus, and the nations. Pick one each day or pray through them all every day.
