It’s been said that you can’t choose your family. Family can be complicated. Messy. Broken. Dysfunctional. And downright painful. At times, we may have felt we’d never choose this, or them. But despite all those things, God chose every single one of us despite our brokenness, messiness, and dysfunction. And God chose us to be His family. For all the hardship and pain, it’s also been said that family are the ones that will stick by you no matter what. Family is forever. The Church is a spiritual family, God’s household, made up of men, women, and children who have been adopted by God in Jesus! That means you have a Father in God and a family in the Church. Sure, it’s broken and messy. It can be painful. But it’s family. Thank God He chose us, adopted us, and surrounded us with family today.
LIVE. One practical way to understand and apply the Bible is the SOS method. Ask…
S: What does this passage say about God, and what does it say about me?
O: What am I being invited to obey?
S: What can I share with those around me?
PRAY. Pray for yourself, a family member, a lifegroup/church friend, someone who doesn’t know Jesus, and the nations. Pick one each day or pray through them all every day.
