READ. Today’s reading is from 2 Chronicles 10:1-19, 2 Chronicles 11:1-23, 2 Chronicles 12:1-16
ASK. After reading, ask the following SOS Questions & journal your thoughts.
S = Say. What is the main point? What does it teach about God (Jesus) & yourself?
O = Obey. What can you apply (practice) from this passage today?

Rehoboam was a knucklehead. He entered leadership with an entitled attitude, took horrible advice, let power go to his head, took his focus off the Lord, and let his people do the same. This verse from 2 Chronicles 12:14 sums it up well: “Rehoboam did what was evil, because he did not determine in his heart to seek the LORD.”
DETERMINATION (n) - firmness of purpose; resoluteness
What are you determined to do right now in your life? Get out of debt? Find a mate? Loose weight? Read the Daily Focus? Just make it through today? Nothing? Might I suggest we learn from Rehoboam’s mistake. Let’s make seeking the Lord our focus, and be resolute about it. Jesus said “seek, and you will find”. If we seek the Lord and lean not on our own understanding, or listen to the blowing wind of the world, he will keep us from evil. He will make our paths straight. He will protect us, guide us, and love us. That’s what he promises.
Please join me in this prayer today: “Jesus, I want to be determined in my heart to seek your will for my life. This world is full of distraction. Help me to focus on you. I want to learn your voice and listen only to it. You know what I need, and I believe that if I follow you it will be provided to me by you. Teach me to love you, and others, as you love me.”
