Good Morning!
Let’s focus our day by spending some time with Jesus before it begins.
THANK. Write down 3-5 things you’re thankful for in the last 24 hours.
WORSHIP. Pick a song from one of our Spotify Playlists and let it play in the background.
MEMORIZE. Our Scripture Focus for this study is Exodus 15:1-3. Scripture is God-breathed and true. When we memorize it, we carry God’s Word with us wherever we go.
READ. Today’s reading is from Exodus 1-2. (Go Deeper: Genesis 15:13-16 & Genesis 35:10-12)
THINK. A Thought from Pastor Dave…
The Greek word Exodus means “the road out.” The book of Exodus tells the dramatic story of Israel’s road out of slavery in Egypt and the beginning of their journey through the wilderness. From the plagues against Egypt and the miraculous parting of the Red Sea to the Israelites’ encampment near Mount Sinai, Exodus is like a movie with God as the hero who hears, never stops loving, never gives up, and comes to the rescue for His people. Here’s a recap of Genesis (the prequel) before we get into Exodus: Part 2 of God’s story…
In the beginning, God created and blessed the world. He gave the first humans, Adam and Eve, a mission to carry out His purposes for creation. But when Adam and Eve sinned and failed to carry out that purpose, God promised to send a Savior to restore His plan for all creation. God set this plan into motion by calling Abram to leave his home in Ur and follow Him to the land of Canaan. Abraham’s grandson, Jacob, also called Israel, had twelve sons who established the twelve tribes of Israel. One of Jacob’s twelve sons, Joseph, was sold into slavery by his brothers. Through a series of events, Joseph found himself in Egypt, separated from his family, serving Pharaoh where he rose in leadership and prominence. Joseph later extended mercy to his family, welcoming them into Egypt when a famine took over their land. As generations continued, there came a time when the rulers of Egypt no longer knew of Joseph and his legacy. These Israelite descendants multiplied and eventually became enslaved in Egypt…
LIVE. One practical way to understand and apply the Bible is the SOS method. Ask…
S: What does this passage say about God, and what does it say about me?
O: What am I being invited to obey?
S: What can I share with those around me?
