Good Morning!
Let’s focus our day by spending some time with Jesus before it begins.
THANK. Write down 1 thing you’re joyfully thankful for today, other than it’s Friday.
WORSHIP. Pick a song from one of our Spotify Playlists and let it play in the background.
MEMORIZE. Our Scripture Focus for this study is Exodus 15:1-3. Scripture is God-breathed and true. When we memorize it, we carry God’s Word with us wherever we go.
READ. Today’s reading is Exodus 8 - Exodus 9:12. (Go Deeper: Psalms 104: 24-30)
THINK. A Thought from Pastor Mike…
Our household utilizes a bug alarm. Whenever my wife or daughters see a bug inside, they make a “whoop…whoop” sound and the expectation is I come running to vanquish the intruder. I often arrive on the scene to see the tiniest pest and I’m like “really??”. I can only imagine the bug alarms going off in Egypt when swarms of gnats and flies were covering everything. What must the Egyptian people have been thinking? Especially when they saw that the Israelite people were unaffected? I imagine most of them were like “Pharaoh, let them go already!” I also imagine many of them were beginning to wonder: “Who is this God of the Israelites?”. If God’s endgame was just to free his people, he could have just struck all the Egyptians dead. Clearly he had a bigger plan that involved a wake up call and invitation to the Egyptian people. I believe he still applies this approach to hardened heart today.
LIVE. One practical way to understand and apply the Bible is the SOS method. Ask…
S: What does this passage say about God, and what does it say about me?
O: What am I being invited to obey?
S: What can I share with those around me?
PRAY. Pray for yourself, a family member, a lifegroup/church friend, someone who doesn’t know Jesus, and the nations. Pick one each day or pray through them all every day.
CONNECT. Have a question, prayer request, or story? Let us know here or reply via text.
SHARE. Invite a friend to read the Focus with you! Just text “FOCUS” to (586) 200-6277.
Run the race with endurance today, and stay focused on Jesus.
Make it a Great One!
