Good Morning!
Let’s focus our day by spending some time with Jesus before it begins.
WORSHIP. Pick a song from one of our Spotify Playlists and let it play in the background.
THANK. Write down 3-5 things you’re thankful for in the last 24 hours.
READ. Our Scripture Focus is Leviticus 20:26. Try memorizing it during this study!
Today’s reading is from Leviticus 16-17 (Going Deeper: John 1:29, Mark 15:33-39 & Romans 3:25-26)
THINK. A Thought from Pastor Dave…
Leviticus 16-17 is at the heart of the book of Leviticus. Chapter 16 outlines the Day of Atonement, while chapter 17 begins a section of scripture often known as the Holiness Code. The significance of these two chapters is explained wonderfully by the She/He Reads Truth team…
The day of atonement (also known as Yom Kippur) was Israel’s most important annual activity. On the Day of Atonement, the high priest would purify himself. He would then place two male goats in front of the mercy seat in the most holy place at the center of the tabernacle and the Israelite camp. One was sacrificed as a sin offering. The high priest would then lay his hands on the head of a male goat and confess over it all of his own sins and the sins of the people before God. This goat was then led out of the camp, which was considered sacred as the dwelling place of a holy God and a purified people, and left in the wilderness, a place of disorder where idol worship and pagan practices occurred. This ritual was accompanied by a solemn fast. Christ’s substitutionary sacrifice explicitly fulfills this Old Testament ritual. Scripture says He was led like a lamb to the slaughter, to die on a cross outside the city walls. On the cross, He bore all the sins of all people for all time. Today’s reading offers us a deeper appreciation for Christ’s sacrifice for us.

LIVE. One practical way to understand and apply the Bible is the SOS method. Ask…
S: What does this passage say about God, and what does it say about me?
O: What am I being invited to obey?
S: What can I share with those around me?
PRAY. Pray for yourself, a family member, a lifegroup/church friend, someone who doesn’t know Jesus, and the nations. Pick one each day or pray through them all every day.
SHARE. Stay focused with a friend! Invite them to text “FOCUS” to (586) 200-6277.

Stay focused on Jesus today, and make it a great one!
