Good Morning!
Let’s focus our day by spending some time with Jesus before it begins.

THANK.
Write down 5 things you’re thankful for in the last 24 hours.
WORSHIP. Pick a song from one of our Spotify Playlists and let it play in the background.
PRAY. Pray for yourself, a family member, a friend, someone who doesn’t know Jesus, and the nations.
READ. Today’s scripture reading is from John 12:46-50, John 14:6 & 2 Corinthians 4:1-6
LIVE. One practical way to understand and apply the Bible is the SOS method.

  • S: What does this passage say about God, and what does it say about me?

  • O: What am I being invited to obey?

  • S: What can I share with those around me?

A THOUGHT FROM PASTOR DAVE
Whether it’s fruit cake or a famous casserole, the holidays are the perfect occasion for some of the greatest family recipes. Gwyn’s Christmas Cookies have always been a favorite. The thing about a recipe, though, is that it has to be followed. Recently, I saw an internet meme about a woman who complained that her burnt Marie Callendar' pie ruined Thanksgiving. The internet responded, with everyone seeming to understand that the results were on the user. When it comes to our spiritual lives, though, many people think that God is just the big guy in the sky waiting to fry their pie.

While I can’t speak for Marie Callendar, God speaks for Himself in the Bible. Jesus says that he didn’t come to judge the world, but to save it. His teachings and his way of life shed light on the way God our Father intended life to be lived. God’s desire is for us to have life (real, good, full life) from now through all eternity. To continue the metaphor, “eternal life” is better than the best pie you’ve ever tasted, and that’s what God wants for every. single. person. And God made that kind of life available to us by giving us the recipe - Jesus. Smoke may be filling the proverbial kitchen of your life right now. You may have burnt the pie. Today is a good day to take it out of the over and start over. Jesus came not to be your food critic, but to give you the Father’s secret recipe for eternal life. Trust him, and follow the recipe today. Some of the ingredients don’t taste very good on their own. Some of the steps don’t seem to make sense. And the timing may not seem right. But the end result is better than anything you could have created on your own.
