Good Morning!
Let’s focus our day by spending some time with Jesus before it begins.

WORSHIP FOCUS | 5-15 Minutes
Worship can be as simple as thanking God for who He is & what He does. (Psalm 100:4)
1. Start out by writing or saying out loud 3-5 things you’re thankful for.
2. Play or sing some worship music you love, or use this Christmas Worship Playlist.

SCRIPTURE FOCUS | 5-15 Minutes
Pray a simple prayer before reading, asking the Holy Spirit to guide you into all truth.
(John 14:26)
Today’s reading is from Psalm 78:1-8, Malachi 4:2, Matthew 13:10-17, 34-35, 1 Corinthians 1:20-25, 2 Peter 1:16-21 & Revelation 22:16
Highlight verses that capture your attention, and ask three simple questions as you read…
S = Say. What is the main point? What does it teach about God (Jesus) & yourself?
O = Obey. What can you apply (practice) from this passage today?
S = Share. Who can you share what you’re learning with today?
One of the best ways to learn more about the Bible is by discussing it with others.
Work through this week’s Discussion Guide and meet up with a Paradox Lifegroup.

A THOUGHT FROM TODAY’S READING…
Jesus is the morning star. God’s light in the darkness sent here to lead His people through battle. We are victorious because of Jesus, and the light that His salvation brings. The wise men knew that the star in the sky they had to follow would look different than any other sign in the sky they’d ever seen or heard of. We don’t know much about the journey they endured following this star that would lead them to the place where our Savior was. What conversations took place, and what did their prayers sound like? Maybe they were peaceful, and full of thankfulness. Or maybe they were nervous… even scared. Did they stress over what gifts would be good enough to give? Were they wrapped appropriately? Were these wise men in a good place themselves, and ready to welcome the Messiah? This thought has me questioning how I experience anticipation. Either way, these wise men were watchful, faithful, and decisive in their actions. They were not led by the direction of King Herod, who was deceitful about his fear-driven motives. Instead they were stealthy, patient, and led by truth. They had a mission to attend to.

When I think of Christ’s birth, I think of a quiet, simple night. An evening of listening followed by a morning of praise. That last moment of silence as everyone held their breath just before His grand arrival. The rocks cry out in silence. All of creation built for this moment. The morning star had come to lead His people.

”I, Jesus, have sent my angel to attest these things to you for the churches. I am the Root and descendant of David, the bright morning star.” - Revelation‬ ‭22‬:‭16‬

The light of God has been prophesied from beginning to end. The bright morning star that was promised throughout scripture. Our God is faithful in His promises. God, I pray for a wise, and expectant heart. I want to shed all things that distract, and blur my vision as I’m looking for you today. I pray for a heart that rejoices, and sings thankful praises to your name. As we wait for your coming again, I pray that our eyes would be watchful. I pray our ears would be listening, and our hearts full of joyful anticipation at the thought of you, and your arrival. - Rachel Hood

PRAYER FOCUS |
5-15 Minutes
Prayer is a conversation that involves both talking and listening to God.
Pick a Psalm to pray using P.R.A.Y. Pause to be still, Reflect on the verses, Ask God for help, & say Yes to Jesus.
Reading and praying scripture to hear God in this way is called Lectio Divina. Learn more about Lectio Divina here and practice using one of these apps.

SHARE THE FOCUS | 1-5 Minutes
1. Text someone a prayer/encouragement, or share a thought/question with us in the Forum.
2. Invite someone to read the Focus with you. Text “FOCUS” to (586) 200-6277.

That’s all for today.
Stay focused on Jesus, and make it a great one!
