Merry Christmas!
Stay focused on Jesus this Christmas by spending some time with Him throughout the day.
WORSHIP FOCUS |
Worship can be as simple as thanking God for who He is & what He does. (Psalm 100:4)
1. Thank God for one thing you love about Him/something He’s done before/after you open every gift.
2. Play or sing some worship music you love while you open gifts, or use this Christmas Worship Playlist.
SCRIPTURE FOCUS |
Pray a simple prayer before reading, asking the Holy Spirit to guide you into all truth. (John 14:26)
Today’s reading is from Luke 2:1-10 & Galatians 4:4-5
Read Luke 2 three times today - in a children’s Bible if you can. Ask three simple questions as you read…
1st Reading. What is one word or phrase that caught your attention? (That’s the Holy Spirit!)
2nd Reading. What do you feel? What specific situation in your life today relates?
3rd Reading. What gift might God want to give to you from the Scripture today?
A THOUGHT FROM TODAY’S READING…
My kids talk about the movie “Yes Day” all the time. They love the idea of kids being in charge, ruling the world, and making all the decisions. Can you imagine a world actually run by kids? I’ll tell you one thing - it would definitely be a lot more fun! “Yes Day” isn’t a Christmas movie... but maybe we should make it one. Because in a way, that’s exactly what we’re celebrating today - the Baby King who invites us into His kingdom by becoming like a child (Matthew 18:3). It’s been said that Christmas is for the kids. That there’s nothing like the magic and joy of Christmas in the eyes of a child. So today, celebrate the birth of the newborn king by becoming like the kids. Literally, do what they do. Rest. Eat. Play. Laugh. Enjoy… like Jesus. Jesus welcomed children and blessed them. Not solemnly or religiously. He's smiling, laughing, hugging, and playing with them! He's glad to be with them. They're having fun together (Mark 10:13-16). Fun is a significant way that Jesus shows us his Father's love. It's part of his message that, regardless of our age, God is our Abba, our Dad. (Mark 14:36, Romans 8:15, Galatians 4:6). Rediscover your “inner child” this Christmas - not because you have toys to enjoy, but because you have a Father in heaven to enjoy. - Dave Kubiak
PRAYER FOCUS |
Prayer is a conversation that involves both talking and listening to God.
Toward the end of the day, take some time to reflect and journal.
1 | Review the moments of the day. Where did you spend Christmas? Who did you celebrate with?
2 | Where was there joy today? What tradition meant the most to you? What made you laugh?
3 | What sense of loss, grief, or unmet expectations did you experience today?
4 | What is one memory from today that you will carry with you?
5 | How did you experience the nearness of God today? How was it different because you focused on Him?
