THINK. A Thought from Pastor Dave…
We live in between Advents (or “Comings”). We remember and celebrate Jesus’ first coming on Christmas - when Jesus came quietly, gently, obscurely, as a baby. His second coming will be nothing like the first. the Bible describes a loud, powerful return as a warrior that all the people of every nation will take notice of. Ever since Jesus rose from the dead and ascended into heaven, people have wondered when He will come again. From those first moments, people asked questions, wondered, and tried to figure out exactly when Jesus would return. We’ve stood still, with our eyes to the sky - waiting, watching, and wishing Jesus would come soon. But the Bible describes our role in these in-between days so poignantly: Don’t wonder. Don’t wait. Don’t watch. Do the work. Be my witnesses. Witnesses simply share what they’ve seen or what has happened. Who can you share what you’ve seen God do or what has happened in your life with today?
LIVE. One practical way to understand and apply the Bible is the SOS method. Ask…
S: What does this passage say about God, and what does it say about me?
O: What am I being invited to obey?
S: What can I share with those around me?
