Today’s reading is from Matthew 10:1-4 & Mark 6:7-56
THINK. A Thought from Pastor Dave…
In addition to hearing Jesus’ teaching, the disciples saw demons driven out, people healed of every disease and sickness, thousands miraculously fed, and more as they followed Jesus. Sometimes we might wonder as his followers today, we don’t we see more of those things ourselves? One answer could be found not in what Jesus’ disciples saw happen, but where they were and what they were doing when it happened. First, Jesus’ disciples had to believe they had been given authority (Matt 10:1). That means they were “authorized users” of God’s Holy Spirit - partners with Him in this work. If you’ve ever doubted God could use you, remember: Jesus has given you authority as his follower. This authority wasn’t simply meant for them - Jesus sent them out. One of the main places we will see God move in miraculous ways is as we follow Him into the world to share about Jesus. And finally, the miraculous seems to always be happening in service to others. Want to see God move in powerful, even miraculous ways today? Get in the right spot. Don’t sit back and wait - step out and watch. Believe you are who Jesus says you are. Get out into the world to tell others about Him. And serve the people in your life. Then, watch what God does as He multiplies your little into much.
