Today’s reading is from Matthew 17 & 18
THINK. A Thought from Renee Richter…
When you read the Bible, do you sometimes just scratch your head wondering about the meaning of it? Me too!! Some things in today’s reading just made me go “hmm…”  but when I just sat back and tried to look at who Jesus is, I was blown away and brought to tears by His love and patience. I saw that there is no question too great or too small for us to bring to Jesus. He is approachable. He listens. He answers. He spends time with each of us to help us understand. Will we get it after just one time? Not every time, but it’s okay. In your spare time, search the gospels for how many times Jesus declares, “oh, you of little faith” to His disciples. He doesn’t give up on them. He doesn’t toss them aside for a new bunch because of their mistakes or lack of faith. Jesus stays with them. Jesus continues to do life with them. Jesus continues to teach them, guide them to understanding, and repeat information over and over again to refresh their memory and bring them to a greater faith in God. He has done this with me and will do it with you. He doesn’t give up on us. Don’t give up on Jesus, and don’t give up on reading the Bible just because you don’t understand or have sinned or made mistakes. Jesus doesn’t give up on you. You are seen.  You are heard.  You are loved by Jesus.
ASK. Throughout this study, we’ll be practicing Discovery Bible Study (DBS) together. After each day’s reading, ask the following questions and write down your thoughts.
What is the main point of this passage?
What does it teach you about God (Jesus)?
What does it show you about people, or yourself?
What can you apply (practice) from this passage today?
Who can you share this with today?
How did you do practicing and sharing what you learned yesterday?
PRAY (AGAIN). Pray for a family member, a lifegroup/church friend, someone who came to mind, someone who doesn’t know Jesus, and the nations. Pick one each day or pray through them all every day.
