THINK. A Thought from Pastor Dave…
Hang with me on this. You may have heard this “Vine & Branches” stuff before, so I want to break it down a little today. Jesus says that He is like a vine and we are like the branches. When we ‘remain in Him,’ we’re connected. Part of the vine. And when we’re “in” the vine, the vine’s life and resources are “in” us. When that is happening, we (the branches) do what living branches do: produce fruit. You might have heard all this before. But Jesus goes on. He explains that we should remain “in His love.” God IS love. When we’re connected to God in Jesus, we’re connected to His love. We receive life, nutrients, and everything we need to survive and thrive and… bear fruit. What fruit? Love. If you’re feeling short on love for others today, start by receiving some from the vine. Then, remain there. Stay close. Watch what Jesus is doing and saying. Follow Him. You’ll find yourself loving God, yourself, and others just like Jesus.
PRAY. Pray for yourself, a family member, a friend, someone who doesn’t know Jesus, and the nations.
LIVE. One practical way to understand and apply the Bible is the SOS method. Ask…
S: What does this passage say about God, and what does it say about me?
O: What am I being invited to obey?
S: What can I share with those around me?
