THINK. A Thought from Jessica Glenn…
Today, we look at Sabbath and are challenged to trust God in big ways - trust God for His provision and His knowing what is best for us. We read in previous days that the Sabbath was made for man, not the other way around. Taking an intentional day of rest from work or chores puts us in a vulnerable position to not rely on our own strength or ability to provide or meet our needs but instead gives us the opportunity to put our full trust in God. The temptation in this is to worry, be anxious, and try to work harder or control things. (Sidenote: I have a funny story of my own attempts to do just that on one of our Sabbath days and God was faithful and kind to provide. Feel free to ask me about this next time you see me.) I pray that we would have the grace to not walk by the flesh in fear, worry or control but instead by His Spirit in rest, peace and trust in God to meet our every need. We are able to rest and watch and see what our good Father will do in supplying everything that we need. I am challenged again today to renew my trust in Him and release my burdens of worry and control to Him knowing His thoughts are not mine and His ways are not mine and He is faithful to meet me as I obey and respond to His design for rest and Sabbath.
