Good Morning!
Let’s focus our day by spending some time with Jesus before it begins.
THANK. Write down 5 things you’re thankful for in the last 24 hours.
WORSHIP. Pick a song from one of our Spotify Playlists and let it play in the background.
READ. Today’s scripture reading is from Romans 15:5-6 & Galatians 6:1-10
THINK. A Thought from Pastor Dave…
Did you know that the chapter and verse markings in the Bible weren’t added until much later? Many of the writings in the New Testament were originally written as letters - including Galatians. That means that it was meant to be read as a whole. Words find their meaning in relation to the sentence they’re in. And sentences find theirs in relation to the paragraph, etc. Sometimes, in order to understand what the whole means, I re-read the scripture a few times and re-state it in my own words - the “Dave” translation. Give it a try sometime. Here’s what I came up with today…
If the consequences of anyone’s sin becomes too heavy for them to bear, help them get back on their spiritual feet gently. Be careful not to look down on them or respond harshly with “rules” - remember, God’s first rule is to love people well. So don’t think you’re above them or that this couldn’t happen to you. Take a look at your own life. It’s ok to be proud of doing the right thing - but don’t be proud that you’re better than the next person. Remember, every person is responsible for what God has called them to - not someone else. So if someone helps you learn and live this way of Jesus, share with them too! This helps everyone see that what you give has a way of coming back to you. When you’re selfish, you’ll end up destroying yourself with no one there to help. But if you’re always looking to give, share, and help others, you’ll have a friend in God and plenty of friends in people. So don’t give up. Don’t get tired of helping others, wondering when you’ll get yours. God sees you. And He’s given each of us the church to help.
PRAY. Pray for yourself, a family member, a friend, someone who doesn’t know Jesus, and the nations.
LIVE. One practical way to understand and apply the Bible is the SOS method. Ask…
S: What does this passage say about God, and what does it say about me?
O: What am I being invited to obey?
S: What can I share with those around me?
