THINK. A Thought from Pastor Mike…
As I was reading through the scriptures I was assigned for today I honestly thought for a moment that Pastor Dave was pranking me. How the heck is there any deep, profound truth to be taken from 3 chapters of boring genealogy? So I prayed and asked God to show me something. This is what I heard:
The family tree described throughout these chapters in 1 Chon. is messy. Many wives, concubines, etc. Many of the kings of Israel listed here would lead their people away from God, or at least tolerate their peoples’ drift to other gods. And THIS line of succession is the one that God himself, Jesus, would be born through. Point being, God used messy, broken, imperfect people to accomplish his will and bring Love into our world. How much more so can he use us…messy, broken, and imperfect as we are, to continue his loving purposes? As we enter this season of Lent, I encourage us to repent of our wickedness, accept God’s grace, and let him use us to revive our fallen world and bring many to know our Lord Jesus!

P = Pause. As you start your time of prayer, begin by pausing and being still before the Lord.
R = Read. Read the passage of the day (from the 21 Day Prayer Guide) slowly and be sensitive to the words or phrases that the Holy Spirit is highlighting to you.
A = Ask. Ask God to come and speak to you. Open up your heart to Him as your heavenly Father.
Y = Yield. We want to yield our lives to the words we have prayed and commit to follow Jesus’s way.
