Good Morning!
Let’s focus our day by spending some time with Jesus before it begins.
THANK. Write down 3-5 things you’re thankful for in the last 24 hours.
WORSHIP. Pick a song from one of our Spotify Playlists and let it play in the background.
READ. Today’s scripture reading is from Ezekiel 36:26 & Ezekiel 17 (Go Deeper: Matthew 11:20-30 & Matthew 13:24-30)
THINK. A Thought from Pastor Dave…
In Ezekiel 17, God gives a relatable story (called a parable) to make a deeper, spiritual point - a strategy Jesus would often use. A vine has been planted in “a good field by abundant water in order to produce branches, bear fruit, and become a splendid vine.” What more could a vine want? But instead of developing deep roots and staying low, the vine reaches upward and outward to another for care, nourishment, and protection. In doing so, it was exposed to harsh winds, became vulnerable to dangerous predators, and lacked the deep roots necessary to thrive. As one commentary puts it, the vine “ruined itself striving to better itself.” When it comes to our relationship with God and our faithfulness to Him, we often reach for other things - only to expose ourselves to harm in the process. God loves you, cares for you, protects and provides for you. Stop reaching. Stop striving. Rest in Him alone today.
LIVE. One practical way to understand and apply the Bible is the SOS method. Ask…
S: What does this passage say about God, and what does it say about me?
O: What am I being invited to obey?
S: What can I share with those around me?
PRAY. Pray for yourself, a family member, a friend, someone who doesn’t know Jesus, and the nations.
