Good Morning!
Let’s focus our day by spending some time with Jesus before it begins.
THANK. Write down 3-5 things you’re thankful for in the last 24 hours.
WORSHIP. Pick a song from one of our Spotify Playlists and let it play in the background.
READ. Today’s scripture reading is from Ezekiel 23:28-49 & Ezekiel 24 (Go Deeper: Matthew 1:21-23)
THINK. A Thought from Pastor Dave…
Sin is painful, and it is personal. It’s effects reach far beyond those directly involved in it. It’s reach - especially to the innocent, helpless, and most vulnerable - is part of what makes sin so devastating. People’s disregard for human life, mistreatment of the poor and the foreigner amongst them, and actual murder of children through their parents’ sacrifice to idols broke God’s heart and destroyed lives. Most dramatically, Ezekiel would lose his wife, the delight of his eye. I can’t say I fully understand the “why.” I can’t say it seems right. But it is a powerful portrait of the painful reality of sin. A painful reality that God Himself would experience again and again until, in the most painful moment in history, God would send Jesus - completely innocent, the delight of His eye - to die for the sins of the world to save the world from its devastating effects once and for all. Sin is painful, and it is personal. Thank God for absorbing the pain of sin on the cross.
LIVE. One practical way to understand and apply the Bible is the SOS method. Ask…
S: What does this passage say about God, and what does it say about me?
O: What am I being invited to obey?
S: What can I share with those around me?
PRAY. Pray for yourself, a family member, a friend, someone who doesn’t know Jesus, and the nations.
