Good Morning!
Let’s focus our day by spending some time with Jesus before it begins.
Pick a song from one of our Spotify Playlists and let it play in the background.
ENTER. Write down or say out loud 3-5 things you’re thankful for from the last 24 hours.
FOCUS. Slowly breathe in… and out. Pray, Jesus, I surrender to you today and trust in you.
READ.
Our Scripture Focus is 2 Chronicles 7:13-14. Try memorizing it during this study!
Today’s reading is from 2 Chronicles 29-31 & Micah 6:6-8
THINK. A Thought from Pastor Mike…
God cares more about ruling your heart than you following his rules.
In the time of the prophet Micah, there were specific sacrifices to be made for various wrongs that one would commit. Micah knew that. Yet when he is talking about atoning for his transgressions he asks “what should I bring before the Lord”? He then shares how God answered that question to him, and all of us. God requires that we: “act justly, love faithfulness, and walk humbly with God”. He cares about the posture of our heart.
In today’s reading from Chronicles, King Hezekiah is bringing his people back to relationship with the Lord. As he is restarting the practice of observing the Passover, a very important celebration for the Hebrew people, he makes concessions that go against the hard and fast rules laid out in the days of Moses. King H would rather his people quickly return to the main point of Passover (remembering God’s faithfulness and deliverance) not get hung up on all the details that would have excluded many from participating. King H said, “May the good Lord provide atonement on behalf of whoever sets his whole heart on seeking God…even though not according to the purification rules.”
You may feel you can’t have relationship with God or a place in a church because you are not “clean”, not living a life God would approve of. Please know that God has a long history of loving people like you. He doesn’t need you to get your act together, he just needs you to invite him in and let him love you.
