Good Morning!
Let’s focus our day by spending some time with Jesus before it begins.
Pick a song from one of our Spotify Playlists and let it play in the background.
ENTER. Write down or say out loud 3-5 things you’re thankful for from the last 24 hours.
FOCUS. Slowly breathe in… and out. Pray, Jesus, I surrender to you today and trust in you.
READ.
Our Scripture Focus is 2 Chronicles 7:13-14. Try memorizing it during this study!
Today’s reading is from 2 Chronicles 34-35 & Psalm 1:1-3
THINK. A Thought from Holly MacDonald…
Josiah, king of Judah, sought God and began to tear down and remove idols that had sprung up after his father’s reign. Josiah is said to be the most obedient king, meaning he followed God’s law. Josiah was deeply grieved, to the point of tearing his clothes, when the sin of his people was brought to light. Though the story ends with Josiah’s death, it was actually the Lord’s protection to bring peace to Josiah so he wouldn’t have to see the disaster He was to bring on the people of Judah. So often, we take our sin lightly. We laugh it off, make excuses, or tell ourselves and others to ‘lighten up’. Here’s the truth, sin is serious and there are consequences for it. God is jealous for you, so much so, that He gave up His Son to get you back. What I am NOT saying is you should hang on to your sin and feel guilty for all of eternity for it. Nope. Scripture reminds us that there is no condemnation in Christ Jesus (Romans 8:1). Jesus already took care of it. But what I am saying is, God admired Josiah’s responsive heart to sin, his humility, and his grief. God responds to Him saying, “I have heard you.” (2 Chronicles 34:27). Maybe you’re in a season where you feel far from God or maybe you’re having a hard time hearing His voice. Start by identifying sin or idols that might be getting in the way. First, we should be deeply moved by sin which then leads us to repentance. Repentance leads to freedom! Freedom to continue to grow spiritually as the Spirit of God continues to make you look more like Jesus and reflect Him! Take a moment to reflect today, is there any sin or idol in your life  that you need to repent of? Don’t wait another day to repent and ask forgiveness. God is so much greater than whatever idol has captured your heart and He has so much more of Himself to give to you!
