Today’s reading is from 2 Chronicles 36, Jeremiah 25:1-7 & Romans 11:1-2
THINK. A Thought from Pastor Dave…
Second Chronicles ends with a retelling of the people’s return from exile to start a new era of rebuilding and restoration (2 Ch. 36:22-23). The Chronicler recalls again this invitation to return from exile to reawaken their hope for spiritual renewal. Despite Israel's long time away from the land and their disobedient practices, God was still with them and He still had a purpose for His people. Chronicles ends with redemption and the hope of a new beginning. Having looked back, God’s people can move forward, walking in restoration. Like Chronicles, Lent reminds us that God’s promises are still true, even in the midst of our apathy, neglect, or outright disobedience. Even if you feel you’ve gone far or have lost hope - God is still good. God is near. God is with you. And God is still for you. Jesus’ death and resurrection gives us a new start - a firm foundation on which to rebuild and restore. Today, take some time to reflect on any notes you have from the last month or your “Lent Event” Daily Prayer Guide. What place of “exile” might God be inviting you to rebuild or restore as you’ve surrendered it to Him? Use the last page of the Daily Prayer Guide to help you. Next week, we remember and look forward to Easter Sunday with the hope of new life because Christ has conquered death.
