THINK. A Thought from Pastor Dave
Hope is valuable. It is what we believe to be possible. Where we put our confidence. Our trust. Hope keeps us going, even when things are hard or it looks like the end… the thing that might make tomorrow a little better than today. Hope is often difficult to see… and it’s even harder to hold on to when the things we do see don’t look very good. What we see in our news feed, on the bottom line, or reflected in the mirror. Jesus reminds his followers and us that our hope isn’t found in what we see - but in what is unseen (2 Co. 4:18). He tells his followers they won’t see him for a while - but they HAVE seen him, and WILL see him again. No matter what is happening to you on the outside (Are you afflicted? Perplexed? Persecuted? Struck down?) what is happening on the inside is the treasure, and where your hope is found. Everything on the outside - the stuff you see - fades, chips, and breaks down like a jar of clay… No matter how beautiful, elaborate, or expensive it once was, the real treasure is found inside. So, where is your hope found? Thinking positive? The stock market? Education? The next generation? A political candidate? Medicine? Your own ambition, talent, or work ethic? No matter what you see (or don’t see,) listen to the invitation of Scripture and be encouraged (1 Thess. 4:18) today… Don’t let your heart be troubled. Jesus will come back to take you, where you’ll be with Him. You don’t have to grieve like those who have no hope. Jesus died and rose again so you could too.
