Good Morning!
Let’s focus our day by spending some time with Jesus before it begins.
THANK. Write down 3-5 things you’re thankful for in the last 24 hours.
WORSHIP. Pick a song from one of our Spotify Playlists and let it play in the background.
READ. Our Scripture Focus is 2 Timothy 3:16-17. Try memorizing it during this study!
Today’s reading is from 1 Timothy 6:11-21 (Go Deeper: 2 Peter 1:5-11 & Jude 20-25)
THINK. A Thought from Pastor Dave…
Contentment doesn’t mean passivity. In fact, faith is anything but passive. In today’s reading, we’re given four strong “verbs” - ways we are called to do our part. First, we flee the temptations listed in yesterday’s Focus - no matter how common or “normal” they are in our culture. Second, we pursue good. Christianity is not simply limited to what we don’t do - it’s what we’re supposed to actually do! Third, we’re reminded that this kind of life is a fight. It’s hard. It’s a struggle. And we’re going to have to fight for it. When we do, we’ll do the fourth thing - take hold of eternal life. You may have heard that salvation is a gift we receive… but that often reinforces passivity. What if salvation & eternal life are “there for the taking?” Jesus has already won it. It’s available to anyone! That’s God’s part. Our part is to take hold of it! Today, take hold of eternal life. Is there one way God is asking you to flee, pursue, or fight today?
LIVE. One practical way to understand and apply the Bible is the SOS method. Ask…
S: What does this passage say about God, and what does it say about me?
O: What am I being invited to obey?
S: What can I share with those around me?
PRAY. Pray for yourself, a family member, a lifegroup/church friend, someone who doesn’t know Jesus, and the nations. Pick one each day or pray through them all every day.
