Good Morning!
Let’s focus our day by spending some time with Jesus before it begins.
THANK. Write down 3-5 things you’re thankful for in the last 24 hours.
WORSHIP. Pick a song from one of our Spotify Playlists and let it play in the background.
READ. Our Scripture Focus is 2 Timothy 3:16-17. Try memorizing it during this study!
Today’s reading is from 1 Timothy 6:3-10 (Go Deeper: Ecclesiastes 5:10 & Luke 12:13-34)
THINK. A Thought from Pastor Dave…
After writing to honor leaders, Paul shares the “secret” to being able to do so: contentment. Contentment is a willing and grateful acceptance of whatever God gives you. No more. No less. (Complacency, on the other hand, is not wanting what God is giving you!) Christians are called to contentment. And if we’re going to live content, we have to fight against pride, power, and possessions. Pride needs to be seen, needs to be important, and needs to be right. It is the root of many of the “unhealthy disputes and arguments” we see today. Power controls and calls the shots. There is nothing wrong with possessions (money) in and of themselves - but keep in mind that it is the love of money that is the root of all kinds of evil. You want more of what you love. It drives you. And unfortunately, when we love money and possessions we’re tempted to sin to get it, it keeps us way too busy (no margin or rest), and we end up stressed, overwhelmed, exhausted, or depressed and prone to sin all over again. Complacency is not wanting everything God has for you. Covetousness is wanting more than what God has for you. Remember today, Christians are called to contentment. No more. No less.
LIVE. One practical way to understand and apply the Bible is the SOS method. Ask…
S: What does this passage say about God, and what does it say about me?
O: What am I being invited to obey?
S: What can I share with those around me?
PRAY. Pray for yourself, a family member, a lifegroup/church friend, someone who doesn’t know Jesus, and the nations. Pick one each day or pray through them all every day.
CONNECT. Have a question, prayer request, or story? Let us know here or reply via text.
SHARE. Invite a friend to read the Focus with you! Just text “FOCUS” to (586) 200-6277.

Run the race with endurance today, and stay focused on Jesus.
Make it a Great One!
