THINK. A Thought from Jessica Glenn
God cared for the poor, needy and destitute. All throughout the Bible - Old and New Testament, we see this theme of God encouraging us to not ignore or disregard the plight of the poor. Our actions or lack of action come with consequences - good and bad - and as we read today God would judge the people Israel for their treatment of the poor with His silence. This was not the only reason but one reason for the coming 400 years of silence between the end of the old and beginning of the New Testament  where no prophets spoke the word of the Lord. I can’t imagine not hearing His voice! So He instructs us to not disregard Him in our treatment of others. As we care for those around us in need, we are in fact loving Jesus and it’s as if we had done it for God Himself. Our family had the opportunity to do that just this week as someone made a request of us. My response wasn’t great initially which I repent of and wish it had been eager to help and not annoyed or disgruntled. I need a new heart in this to serve those around me as if I am serving Jesus. Join me today in asking God for renewed heart to love and respond as He would have us to.
