Good Morning!
Let’s focus our day by spending some time with Jesus before it begins.
Pick a song from one of our Spotify Playlists & let it play in the background.
FOCUS. Our memorization & meditation focus for this study is John 1:12-13.
Breathe in & out slowly. Pray, Jesus, I receive you. God calls me His child.
THANK. Write down or say out loud 3-5 things you’re thankful for from the last 24 hours.
WORSHIP. Read Genesis 6:5-13. Focus on one truth about who God is & thank Him for it.
PRAY.
Pray the Lord’s Prayer, a Ripple Prayer, or find more at paradoxchurch.com/pray.
READ.
Today’s reading is from Genesis 6:14-22, Genesis 7:11-12, Genesis 8:13-19 & Genesis 9:1-32
ASK. After reading, ask the following SOS Questions & journal your thoughts.
S = Say. What is the main point? What does it teach about God (Jesus) & yourself?
O = Obey. What can you apply (practice) from this passage today?
S = Share. Who can you share what you’re learning with today?
THINK. A Thought from Pastor Dave
We’re getting toward the end of Baseball/Softball season in our family. All season long, a common refrain heard in our home before any of our kids’ games is that they want to get a hit. But the truth is, desire alone doesn’t produce hits - what shows up at the plate is practice. In today’s reading, the world is described as widespread wickedness with everyone in it doing nothing but evil all the time. Everyone, that is, except Noah. Noah literally stood alone at the plate in perhaps the second biggest moment in human history (we’ll get to the first in a second.) Noah was going to do something - build something - big for God - an ark. And because of one man’s obedience in this moment, humanity would be saved. Noah did everything God commanded him. Everything. Most of us (hopefully) would with stakes that high. But what about the “smaller” stakes? All it takes is looking back a few verses to find out what enabled Noah to come through in the big moment - practice. Noah walked with God (v9). And because of that, he was already in the practice of doing everything God commanded Him. His practice showed up in the game. Don’t just wait for the big, “ark” moments. Practice obeying everything God commands today, in the little, every day moments! And when you don’t (because while very few of us do “only evil all the time,” none of us do “everything God commands” all the time), know that Jesus did. He walked with God. He did everything God commanded him. And his life, death, and resurrection are our ark - our hope and salvation from the consequences of our sin. Through Jesus, God is re-creating the world and everything in it, taking us back to the garden where we can walk with God in perfect relationship again. Have you entered into the ark of God’s salvation by trusting in Jesus? What is one way you can walk with God in re-creating the world today by obeying what He commands?
