THINK. A Thought from Pastor Dave
If you’ve ever played Euchre, you know that the one that goes first (leads) often sets the tone for the rest. What’s true in Euchre holds true in life, and is illustrated by the focus of our reading today - Nahshon. The leaders of Israel are remembering and giving thanks to God for all He had done for them by bringing offerings to the temple. Nahshon was the first to bring an offering. With seemingly no expectation, no precedent or peer pressure, Nahshon could have set the bar low. Instead, he led with generosity. In doing so, he set an example and inspired others. Going back to our Euchre example, they followed suit. Generations later, Jesus would lead by generously offering everything - his life - to God on the altar of the cross for us. At Paradox, we follow Jesus. We want to lead the way in generosity through hospitality, service, and giving because of everything we’ve received so freely and generously in Jesus. Today, think about what you offer back to God. The first and best of your time, talent, and treasure? Do you lead generously? Take a few moments to decide in your own heart, without any compulsion, what you might generously offer God today and in this upcoming season of life.
