I love the progression of today’s readings. Jesus starts with our identity - we are salt (which preserves and adds flavor) and light (which exposes, shows, and brings life). What are we supposed to do as salt and light? Proclaim. Heal. Raise. Cleanse. Drive out. Give. When are we supposed to do those things? As we have opportunity - that means anytime and all the time. Who are we supposed to do these things for? Our neighbor - which is anyone who has need that God puts in your path. Why should we do that? Because when we do, we’re actually doing it for Jesus. Won’t that cost us a lot? Yes - but you’ll be making an investment in eternity. What if people don’t love us back? We’ll be more like Jesus when we suffer. What if we want to give up? Don’t. Go back through each of today’s scriptures. Which does your heart need most?
LIVE. One practical way to understand and apply the Bible is the SOS method. Ask…
S: What does this passage say about God, and what does it say about me?
O: What am I being invited to obey?
S: What can I share with those around me?
PRAY. Pray for yourself, a family member, a lifegroup/church friend, someone who doesn’t know Jesus, and the nations. Pick one each day or pray through them all every day.
