THINK. A Thought from Pastor Dave…
In ‘Mere Christianity,’ C.S. Lewis wrote, “Pride leads to every other vice: it is the complete anti-God state of mind.” The wise person understands the battle between humility and pride is always raging in our hearts. Today’s proverbs help us understand the fight. Do you think there’s a difference between confidence and pride? Are there areas of your life where pride has a strong hold? Is there a difference between self-deprecation and humility? In Philippians 2:13, we’re told that the Holy Spirit works in the lives of believers to make us more like Jesus - which means He is working to cultivate humility in us. Look over this “Pride & Humility” comparison. As you do, pray that the Holy Spirit would bring bring humility in your life in one or more of these areas.
LIVE. One practical way to understand and apply the Bible is the SOS method. Ask…
S: What does this passage say about God, and what does it say about me?
O: What am I being invited to obey?
S: What can I share with those around me?
PRAY. Pray for yourself, a family member, a lifegroup/church friend, someone who doesn’t know Jesus, and the nations. Pick one each day or pray through them all every day.
