Good Morning!
Let’s focus our day by spending some time with Jesus before it begins.
THANK. Write down 3-5 things you’re thankful for in the last 24 hours.
WORSHIP. Pick a song from one of our Spotify Playlists and let it play in the background.
READ. Our Scripture Focus is Ruth 4:14. Try memorizing it this week!
Today’s reading is from Ruth 1:1-5 and Judges 2:11-19 (Going Deeper: Judges 21:25 & 1 Timothy 5:4-8)
THINK. A Thought from Pastor Mike…
There is a series of movies called “The Purge” in which all laws are suspended for a period of time each year and people are allowed to do whatever they want. I’ve never seen these films, but from the previews it doesn’t look like people play nice. We are entering a new study of the book of Ruth. While not quite as dystopian as these movies, Ruth takes place in a dark period of Israelite history where “in those days there was no king…everyone did what was right in their own eyes.” The people had largely forgotten God; his laws and relationship with him. It is against this backdrop that we will see a very powerful story of loyalty, obedience and hope unfold. From these dark times, the Light of the world will ultimately come. May God use this study series to renew our hope and draw us to him.
LIVE. One practical way to understand and apply the Bible is the SOS method. Ask…
S: What does this passage say about God, and what does it say about me?
O: What am I being invited to obey?
S: What can I share with those around me?
PRAY. Pray for yourself, a family member, a lifegroup/church friend, someone who doesn’t know Jesus, and the nations. Pick one each day or pray through them all every day.
SHARE. Stay focused with a friend! Invite them to text “FOCUS” to (586) 200-6277.
Stay focused on Jesus today, and make it a great one!
