THINK. A Thought from Pastor Dave…
Not every meal can be your favorite. That’s what we say to our kids at dinner, anyway. A favorite is one with favor. It is chosen. First. Special. Favor isn’t something that food can bestow upon itself, however. Otherwise, all the broccoli would be doing it. No, favor is given. And when it is, the recipient becomes a favor-ite. Day old bagels weren’t exactly Ruth’s favorite, but that’s exactly where she found herself. Picking through the scraps of life. And yet, even in the midst of her complete abandonment and humiliation, when she was at the lowest of lows, searching for some small scrap of satisfaction… she found favor instead. And it blew her away. This goodness, this kindness, this blessing was unlike anything she’d ever experienced before. And this is the favor God gives us in Jesus. CS Lewis put it well - “We are half-hearted creatures, fooling about with drink and sex and ambition when infinite joy is offered us, like an ignorant child who wants to go on making mud pies in a slum because he cannot imagine what is meant by the offer of a holiday at the sea. We are far too easily pleased.". Today, stop your searching among the scraps. Receive the favor given freely in Jesus. After all, you’re God’s favor-ite!

PRAY. Pray for yourself, a family member, a lifegroup/church friend, someone who doesn’t know Jesus, and the nations. Pick one each day or pray through them all every day.
