Good Morning!
Let’s focus our day by spending some time with Jesus before it begins.
WORSHIP. Pick a song from one of our Spotify Playlists and let it play in the background.
THANK. Write down 3-5 things you’re thankful for in the last 24 hours.
READ. Our Scripture Focus is Leviticus 20:26. Try memorizing it during this study!
Today’s reading is from Leviticus 10 (Going Deeper: Psalm 51:17, Isaiah 6:1-7, Romans 12:1 & 1 Peter 2:1-5)
THINK. A Thought from Pastor Dave…
The book of Leviticus begins where Exodus ends, with God speaking to Moses with instructions for the tabernacle. God had come to dwell among His people, the Israelites. But how could flawed, sinful people live in the presence of a holy God? Leviticus 1-7 is a record of God’s clear instructions on how the Israelites could enjoy life in God’s holy presence. Knowing the Israelites would be unable to faithfully obey God’s holy commands, God provided a means for reconciliation through sacrifices. More than just rituals to complete, these sacrifices were to be offered with genuine remorse and confession of sin. They had to be brought continually because no animal sacrifice could permanently atone for people’s sin - which is why Jesus would need to come and die in our place. Jesus fulfills God’s law by being our perfect and final sacrifice. Leviticus 8-9 described the formal beginning of the priesthood and their ministry in the tabernacle. Again, because of sin, God’s people were unable to even enter His presence to offer their sacrifice. (Truly a hopeless situation!) In His mercy, God provided a way for reconciliation and restoration. The Levitical priests were appointed by God to enter into His presence as a mediator between the people of Israel and God. The priests would bring offerings and ask for mercy on behalf of the entire nation. Though all the Israelites were called to follow God’s commands, the priests were called to model a high standard of holiness and purity for the entire community. As you read God’s Law in Leviticus, thank Him for Jesus - who is our perfect sacrifice and priest (mediator) - restoring and reconciling us to God because we couldn’t on our own.
LIVE. One practical way to understand and apply the Bible is the SOS method. Ask…
S: What does this passage say about God, and what does it say about me?
O: What am I being invited to obey?
S: What can I share with those around me?
PRAY. Pray for yourself, a family member, a lifegroup/church friend, someone who doesn’t know Jesus, and the nations. Pick one each day or pray through them all every day.
