Good Morning!
Let’s focus our day by spending some time with Jesus before it begins.
WORSHIP. Pick a song from one of our Spotify Playlists and let it play in the background.
THANK. Write down 3-5 things you’re thankful for in the last 24 hours.
READ. Our Scripture Focus is Hebrews 12:1-2. Try memorizing it during this study!
Today’s reading is from Hebrews 10:1-18 (Going Deeper: Psalm 40 & 1 Peter 2:24)
THINK. A Thought from Holly MacDonald…
In our reading today, Jesus’ work (the New Covenant) is contrasted with the priest’s work (the Old Covenant). Old Testament sacrifices had to be repeated over and over while Jesus’ death permanently covered sin. Animal sacrifices were a continual reminder of sin yet Jesus took away ours. Sacrifices were incomplete whereas Jesus’ death was sufficient, forever. As we approach the throne of grace, we can be confident that He is faithful to forgive our sins and remember them no more (Hebrews 10:17). What a relief! Because of Jesus, you are made right with God and are set free! Hebrews 10:14 says, we are ‘being made holy’, meaning, we are actively being set apart, purified, and dedicated to God. Though we are free from the penalty and guilt of our sin (justification), we are still in process (sanctification). This does not mean that we are without sin. We may still rebel, get angry, doubt God, and need daily correction but, the difference is, when we walk intimately with God, we are made aware of sin, we confess it, and God is quick to forgive us. Take a moment to ask the Lord anything that you need to be forgiven of today. Name it, confess it, ask for forgiveness, and walk in freedom!
LIVE. One practical way to understand and apply the Bible is the SOS method. Ask…
S: What does this passage say about God, and what does it say about me?
O: What am I being invited to obey?
S: What can I share with those around me?
PRAY. Pray for yourself, a family member, a lifegroup/church friend, someone who doesn’t know Jesus, and the nations. Pick one each day or pray through them all every day.
TALK. That was our take on today’s reading - what’s yours? Share thoughts and ask questions in the forum.
SHARE. Stay focused with a friend! Invite them to text “FOCUS” to (586) 200-6277.
Stay focused on Jesus today, and make it a great one!
