Good Morning!
Let’s focus our day by spending some time with Jesus before it begins.
WORSHIP. Pick a song from one of our Spotify Playlists and let it play in the background.
THANK. Write down 3-5 things you’re thankful for in the last 24 hours.
READ. Our Scripture Focus is Hebrews 12:1-2. Try memorizing it during this study!
Today’s reading is from Hebrews 12:18-29 (Going Deeper: Isaiah 62:6-12 & Ephesians 1:18-23)
THINK. A Thought from Pastor Dave…
When God speaks and acts, God shakes things up. In Jesus, God has spoken and acted decisively, unchangingly, once and for all. This new covenant is unchanging. This kingdom is unshakeable. But in order to receive it, we have to shift our perspective to see it and God in this new, better way. In the beginning, God created everything - and it was good. He made humans to live and thrive in perfect relationship with Him, each other, and our world. But sin entered the world and corrupted our knowledge and understanding of what is good (remember, it was the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. Before eating from it, Adam and Eve knew only good!) As a result, we’re now confused and tempted to believe our thoughts and ways are better than God’s. This is the point of Hebrews. Jesus is a better way. Jesus is better than any and every created thing, including religious systems. Today, enter into this unshakeable kingdom by reorienting your perspective on God’s presence, wisdom, suffering, God’s promises, and obedience. He’s better!
LIVE. One practical way to understand and apply the Bible is the SOS method. Ask…
S: What does this passage say about God, and what does it say about me?
O: What am I being invited to obey?
S: What can I share with those around me?
PRAY. Pray for yourself, a family member, a lifegroup/church friend, someone who doesn’t know Jesus, and the nations. Pick one each day or pray through them all every day.
TALK. That was our take on today’s reading - what’s yours? Share thoughts and ask questions in the forum.
SHARE. Stay focused with a friend! Invite them to text “FOCUS” to (586) 200-6277.
Stay focused on Jesus today, and make it a great one!
