Mariano Rivera is widely considered the best baseball relief pitcher of all time. When the Yankees needed someone to close out a game, he was easily the choice, as he delivered victories at a very high rate. But his record wasn’t perfect. Even the best of all time couldn’t deliver all the time. But Jesus can.
As the song says: “born thy people to deliver”, Jesus came to earth for one purpose, to deliver God’s people from their sins. A descendent of King David as promised, Jesus was killed at the hands of jealous men as foretold, and rose again…defeating death’s grip on humanity. Jesus will come again to deliver this world into a new beginning. Bank on it.
Rivera had a record 652 saves in his career. The “saves” that will be credited to Jesus sacrifice, according to Jeremiah, will be as innumerable as the stars in the sky or the grains of sand in the sea. If you are one of them, thank God today!
