Good Morning!
Let’s focus our day by spending some time with Jesus before it begins.

THINK. A Thought from Pastor Dave…
Remember the playground phrase “It’s a free country”? Because the freedoms we have in this country are unparalleled, it can be hard for us to understand just how much influence a king had over the lives of His subjects. (In a very real way, people were “subjected” to a king - their policies, goals, desires, emotions, whims, and even idiosyncrasies.) Consequently, it can be hard to understand why people were waiting so intently for this new king, a “messiah.” In Isaiah 9, the promised messiah would come to establish a new kingdom that would bring freedom and joy. The government of this new kingdom would be on the shoulders of this messiah - and it wouldn’t be like any government the world has ever seen before. Instead of a harsh dictator, the promised messiah (Jesus) would be a wonderful counselor. Instead of a selfish, imperfect king who would take advantage of his people- He would be the mighty God that protected them. He would be more like an eternal father than an elected official, and instead of an army general He would be a prince of peace. Where are you walking in darkness, in need of a ray of hope that only Jesus, the messiah, can bring?
LIVE. One practical way to understand and apply the Bible is the SOS method. Ask…
S: What does this passage say about God, and what does it say about me?
O: What am I being invited to obey?
S: What can I share with those around me?
PRAY. Pray for yourself, a family member, a lifegroup/church friend, someone who doesn’t know Jesus, and the nations. Pick one each day or pray through them all every day.
