THINK. A Thought from Pastor Dave…
Funny thing about pregnancy - people can usually see it. And as people, we naturally act on what we see. When people started to see that Joseph and Mary were pregnant, Joseph started considering everything he was seeing too. This child was not his. Being a good man, he came up with a good plan. He would do what was right in his sight. But God doesn’t see as people see. I wonder how difficult it was for Joseph to choose to see Mary, this child, and his situation through God’s eyes instead of his own. I wonder if choosing God’s plan over his own was more difficult on him personally, emotionally, spiritually, socially. I wonder what his thoughts were every time he saw Mary’s pregnant belly, when he saw his family, or every time he saw the looks in public. Joseph could have seen all those things. And the thing is, he could have opted out at any time. Joseph didn’t have to be a part of this. But he got to. He chose to see what God saw. He said yes. Today, wake up. Do what God commands. And just see what happens.
LIVE. One practical way to understand and apply the Bible is the SOS method. Ask…
S: What does this passage say about God, and what does it say about me?
O: What am I being invited to obey?
S: What can I share with those around me?
