Today’s reading is from 2 Chronicles 6-7 & John 1:14
THINK. A Thought from Pastor Mike…
Since Day 1, God has desired to be present with man. (Well, technically Day 6 since that is when man was made.) In the beginning, God walked in the garden with Adam and Eve. That is until sin entered the picture through Adam and Eve’s decision to not obey God’s commands. Fast forward to today’s reading. Solomon has led the completion of the temple, a magnificent home for God’s presence/glory here on earth. And God comes! His glory fills the temple and he promises to abide there with his people so long as they will continue to follow him. Spoiler alert…they ultimately don’t and the people are ripped from their homes and the temple destroyed. FF to our other reading: John 1:14. God comes again to be with his people, as John describes: “We observed his glory, the glory as the one and only Son”. Jesus was God in flesh, abiding with his people until…we killed him. FF to today. God once again desires to abide with us, this time through his Holy Spirit who is directly available to any/all who would obey God’s commands and follow him. Will you buck the trend of our ancestors? Will you follow Jesus and allow God’s presence/glory to radiate in your life? Will you repent and turn back to God if you begin to stray from his leading in your life? Do it! You can even ask him for his help and he will guide you. Peace.
