Good Morning!
Let’s focus our day by spending some time with Jesus before it begins.
THANK. Write down 3-5 things you’re thankful for in the last 24 hours.
WORSHIP. Pick a song from one of our Spotify Playlists and let it play in the background.
READ. Our Scripture Focus is Ephesians 4:1-6. Try memorizing it during this study!
Today’s reading is from John 6:47-58 & Matthew 26:26-29 (Go Deeper: Exodus 12:1-3, 7-13, 21-28 & 1 Corinthians 11:17-29)
THINK. A Thought from Pastor Dave…
Are there any meals or foods that remind you of a particular person or event? Every time you have that meal, you think back to it - and it becomes a greater and greater part of your story and who you are. The Lord’s Supper (also known as the Eucharist or Communion) was established by Jesus when He observed the Passover meal with His disciples. The Lord’s Supper proclaims the gospel to ourselves and to one another. The elements themselves aren’t important - but the presence of God. During the Last Supper, Jesus served His closest friends bread and wine that symbolized Jesus giving His body and blood for our sins. Today, Christ followers remember Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross and examine our lives as we take part in Communion. Here’s how to take Communion on your own today…
1 | Examine & Pray. First, take a moment to examine yourself and allow the Holy Spirit to show you any sin in your life, and ask Jesus for His forgiveness.
2 | Take & Eat. Second, eat the cracker or bread that represents the body of Christ. Remember how His body was broken for our sins, and pray something like, “Thank you for the bread. I remember your body that was broken for me.”
3 | Take & Drink. Third, drink the juice that represents the blood of Christ. Remember the new covenant, or promise, that we can be free from all sin through Christ’s shed blood. Then, pray something like, “Thank you for the cup. I remember your blood that was shed for my forgiveness and the promise that I will live eternally with you. Jesus, thank you for your sacrifice. I am free because of you.”
LIVE. One practical way to understand and apply the Bible is the SOS method. Ask…
S: What does this passage say about God, and what does it say about me?
O: What am I being invited to obey?
S: What can I share with those around me?
PRAY. Pray for yourself, a family member, a lifegroup/church friend, someone who doesn’t know Jesus, and the nations. Pick one each day or pray through them all every day.
