THINK. A Thought from Holly MacDonald…
The end of the year is hectic! Though the holiday season brings much excitement, it also comes with parties, packed schedules, family traditions, events, shopping, and endless opportunities to fill our calendars. I’m already tired as I watch our December calendar fill up. In the midst of all the holiday chaos, Jesus promises one thing… In Him, we will find rest (Matthew 11:28, Psalm 62:1). Not just physical rest, but rest for our souls! I believe entering into God’s rest is a posture of our heart. It’s a posture of trust. When we are truly resting, we are letting go of control. We are releasing the outcome to God trusting that He is who He says He is and that He is faithful to keep His promises. Jesus is our loving Shepherd who guides, leads, protects, and defends us. Our anxious hearts can rest because He’s got whatever situation you’re facing. He’s got the impossible task before you. Jesus knows the answers to whatever question you’re wrestling with. He’s got us. He’s got you! May you find rest this advent season as you trust in God’s goodness and faithfulness.
LIVE. One practical way to understand and apply the Bible is the SOS method. Ask…
S: What does this passage say about God, and what does it say about me?
O: What am I being invited to obey?
S: What can I share with those around me?
PRAY. Pray for yourself, a family member, a lifegroup/church friend, someone who doesn’t know Jesus, and the nations. Pick one each day or pray through them all every day.
